Collecting Bhutanese Wlid Cordyceps
RonTeeguarden·
We have a beautiful short video of the Bhutanese Cordyceps collectors gathering this most precious herb in Bhutan's breathtaking Himalayas. It is a unique and enchanting video that you will enjoy watching more than once.
This is genuine footage of real collectors in one of the most rigorous environments in the world. It is not a place most of us are likely to visit. It takes seven days of treacherous alpine hiking by yak and foot to reach this collection area, after the road stops at about 11,000 feet above sea level. The collection area is about 17,000 feet above sea level. There is very little oxygen and the UV
radiation is intense. Though it is summer, it is snowing and sleeting during the day and it is well below freezing at night. By watching the video, you will develop a deeper understanding of why this herb is so rare and expensive, and you will glean some insight into the original (Di Tao -- "authentic source") side of tonic herbalism. You will see exactly how the Cordyceps is collected. And you'll also get to peer into the souls of some truly beautiful people.
When you're done watching the video, take a little time to read about Cordyceps on the webpage associated with this letter. This web article is loaded with amazing photos and inside information on Cordyceps that might be hard to find elsewhere. I promise you that if you read the article (or most of it) and look at the photos, you'll know more about Cordyceps than anyone you know (except maybe our Dragon Herbs staff). You'll learn why this is one of the most prized herbal substances in the world.
