A popular Chinese herb taken to lower cholesterol could stave off Alzheimer's disease, says scientists.
Experiments on mice in Beijing found that fleeceflower root, known medically as Polygonum multiforum Thunb, Shou Wu, reduced amounts of a brain protein that can cause dementia.
The findings are published in the journal Restorative Neurology and Neuroscience.
