Scientists at Tel Aviv University found that using a cellphone increases signs of oxidative stress in saliva. They believe their results show that heavy cellphone use could theoretically increase your risk of cancer.
“This suggests that there is considerable oxidative stress on the tissue and glands which are close to the cell phone when in use,” says researcher Yaniv Hamzany.
The damage from oxidative stress is connected to cellular and genetic mutations that can cause tumors.
Although this study doesn’t conclusively show that cellphones cause cancer, they contribute to growing evidence that long-term cellphone may lead to health issues.
